Vulcan Tube Furnace: Optimal Quartz Tube Usage Tips

Understanding Quartz Tubes: The tube furnace, a key component in production tests, heavily relies on the quartz tube. Its unique structure makes it integral for reactions and operations. The tube’s interaction with gas, pressure, and operational methods is crucial.

Guidelines for Quartz Tube Usage:

  1. Temperature Limitations: Quartz tubes soften at 1270 degrees. Avoid using them at temperatures above 1200 degrees for more than 3 hours.
  2. Hydrogen Usage Caution: Generally, we advise against using hydrogen. If necessary, ensure the hydrogen concentration is beyond the explosive limit and take safety precautions. Avoid standing near the furnace ends during gas flow. For hydrogen flow, opt for stainless steel pipes, requiring water cooling due to high thermal conductivity.
  3. Maintenance and Cleaning: Maintain cleanliness within the tube, ensuring no SiO2-reactive substances remain. Use a boat-shaped crucible for material burning, extending the tube’s life.
  4. Heating Precautions: Always insert ceramic furnace plugs in the tube. This prevents high temperatures at the ends, which can compromise the O-ring’s airtightness. The plugs also help establish a balanced temperature field.
  5. Alumina Furnace Plugs Placement: Place two plugs on each side (four in total), ideally about 450mm apart. This setup maintains a balanced temperature field and protects the O-ring.
  6. Temperature Resistance: The quartz tube’s temperature resistance correlates with its purity; higher purity translates to greater resistance.

Vulcan’s Commitment to Quality: At Vulcan, your trust drives our commitment to quality. We consistently enhance our electric furnaces, utilizing fully automatic machines for precision cutting, with a maximum accuracy error of just 0.02mm. We ensure safe transportation by packing our stoves in filled chambers, protecting them with multi-layer wrapping film. Our stoves’ epoxy-coated surfaces guarantee durability and aesthetic appeal.
