Muffle Furnace Maintenance and Precautions
Initial and Post-Inactivity Use:
1.For first-time use or after long-term inactivity, you must bake the muffle furnace. Start by heating from room temperature to 200°C over four hours, then increase to 600°C for another four hours.
Operational Guidelines:
2. Never exceed the furnace’s maximum rated temperature to avoid damaging the heating element. Avoid pouring liquids or easily soluble metals into the furnace. Ideally, operate the furnace at 50°C below its maximum temperature to extend the heating element’s life.
Environment for Furnace and Controller:
3. Ensure the muffle furnace and controller operate in an environment with relative humidity below 85%, free of conductive dust, explosive gases, or corrosive gases. When heating greasy metal materials, take precautions to manage volatile gas release, which can damage the heating element.
Controller Usage:
4. Use the muffle furnace controller within an ambient temperature range of 0-40°C.
Regular Maintenance Checks:
5. Regularly inspect the connections between the furnace and controller. Ensure the indicator pointer moves smoothly and calibrate instruments as needed, considering factors like demagnetization and wire expansion.
High-Temperature Handling:
6. Avoid pulling out the thermocouple at high temperatures to prevent the jacket from bursting.
Cleaning:
7. Keep the furnace clean and timely remove oxides or similar residues from inside the furnace.
